Agincare buys Peterhouse Retirement Complex

Agincare has bought Peterhouse in Bexhill, East Sussex; a leading Retirement Complex which incorporates a Nursing and Residential Care Home, sheltered housing flats and a day centre.

NABS the advertising and media industry’s charity decided to sell due to a significant decrease in demand from within the industry for a NABS-run retirement complex.

Successful Macmillan Coffee Morning!

We’d like to say a massive thank you to all our residents and visitors that came along to our recent Macmillan coffee morning held here at Peterhouse! We sold cakes, raffle items and played games that ended up raising us over £300! We are excited to see this money go towards such a great cause.

Day at the seaside

It was a beautiful day for a visit to the seaside. We paid a little visit to the fudge, rock and sweet shop to buy some sweets After enjoying traditional fish and chips it was time to walk along the pier with a little dancing on the way as we sang Mamma Mia. We went into the arcades to watch as people were playing the slot machines and children on the rides. We made our way to the Museum of Memories. We were able to see things right from the Victorian days to today. There were old fashioned items such as washing powders, Chocolates, Foods and even cloths that we used to use.

Cupcake day

If there is one thing, we do well at Victory Care Home it is a cake bake and sale. Kayleigh our Admin assistant loves to bake, so when the theme this year for Alzheimer’s society was cupcakes that is what she did!

The Great Flood

On 29th May 2018, torrential rain saw flash flooding and, subsequently, dangerous road surfaces across the entire county. However, in our little part of Kent it seemed that all the rain fell on us! As Victory care home is in a bit of a valley, the water flooded into Sirius unit, which is one wing of our home. In the twenty plus years I have worked at Victory Care Home I have never since rain like this, and at one point the water was running down the side of the home like a river!!

Easter Arrivals

Our ‘living eggs’ arrived on the 26th March, of which we have kept 5 females called Ivy (after one of our residents, as born on her birthday), Pitta, Nugget, Dixie and Terry. They have a new fenced home in the garden and enjoy full use of the garden. Jemma our very own ‘Doctor Dolittle’ has been looking after them, and as you can see are very friendly.

Waterloo National Care Home Open Day 21st April

We had a fun filled afternoon, with sports activities, food & drink, cake stall, guess the weight of the cake, brick a brac and tombola. Thank you to all the staff and family and friends who came to enjoy the day with our residents, all proceeds made have gone towards our resident’s activities

Nutrition & Hydration

In June we set up a Nutrition & Hydration station next to the kitchen with lots of goodies and drink for the residents and staff to enjoy. This has gone down very well and the residents are enjoying having extra treat. One resident in particular is enjoying it and we have to keep an eye on him otherwise he will eat everything before the others have chance.

Easter Bunnies

Talking of bunnies Easter came on 1st April the residents had a wonderful roast lamb dinner and a party in the afternoon. Each resident got a visit from the Easter bunny and he left them all an Easter egg. In the afternoon they all took part in an Easter egg hunt. We gave the residents clues so that each resident could take part even if they were not able to go and look for themselves. They really enjoyed helping each other work out the clues. Some of the residents enjoyed making Easter cookies.

Raising money for Special Care Baby

As everyone is aware Denise is a nanny now and Baby Albie arrived early weighing just over a pound in weight. Blenheim staff and relatives raised £200 for the Special Care Baby unit and Southampton neonatal unit. What a lovely picture of Kayleigh, Albie, Jamie and Eileen having cheques presented to them
